The authorities in the Indian state of Manipur say its chief minister has escaped an attack by separatist rebels. Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh is said to have narrowly escaped but five others were injured. Police said the attack took place in the village of Wangjing, when the rebels opened fire on the chief minister’s convoy. No rebel group has said it carried out the attack. Two policemen were killed later in a clash with the rebels, after pursuing them to a village where the police were ambushed. Full Story
