Two Israelis were wounded Tuesday when anti-aircraft shell splinters fired from southern Lebanon fell on the Israeli border town of Shlomi, an AFP correspondent witnessed. A man was wounded in the shoulder and chest, while a woman sustained a lighter wound in the hand. Israeli military sources said an earlier salvo fired on the eastern sector of the border hit the town of Kiryat Shmona, causing no casualties nor damage. “The air defense unit of the Islamic resistance & confronted Zionist enemy planes that violated Lebanese sovereignty over the eastern sector of south Lebanon,” a statement from the group said, adding that gunners later fired at Israeli planes elsewhere along the border. Residents said an Israeli reconnaissance plane circled over parts of the eastern Bekaa Valley, while Israeli warplanes broke the sound barrier deep inside Lebanon, reaching the northern port city of Tripoli.
