The Philippine authorities have stepped up intelligence-gathering efforts as well as security in malls and other public places as the escape this week of three terrorists revived threats of a fresh round of attacks. Military spokesman Lt-Colonel Daniel Lucero said intelligence gathered so far showed that convicted Jemaah Islamiah bomber Fathur Rohman Al-Ghozi was still in the country. ‘We have alerted all units to step up intelligence efforts and to be on the lookout for the presence of the three fugitives,’ he said.
