Two army informers were shot dead in separate incidents yesterday in this southernmost province, police said. Arwaekujae Tohkoh, 41, was riding a motorcycle on his way to a mosque in Joh I Rong district when a group of armed assassins emerged from a bush by the roadside, an initial investigation found. Police said the gunmen opened fire on Arwaekujae, who was shot four times in the back and once each in the left chest and head. He was pronounced dead at the district hospital. Police are investigating whether the murder was linked to his work as an informer for the army or a personal conflict. Arwaekujae was a soldier who fought the separatists in the south. When he was withdrawn from the army due to injuries, he was employed as an informer. Full Story
