Suspected international terrorist Fathur Roman Al-Ghozi has escaped from his jail cell at the Philippine National Police-Intelligence Group (PNP-IG) detention center. According to a radio DzMM report, PNP chief Director Hermogenes Ebdane told reporters during a press conference Monday that the Indonesian national Al-Ghozi– together with two others– escaped early Monday morning from Camp Crame. Ebdane related that the three were suspected of escaping the PNP-IG detention cell around the wee hours of the morning or between 3:30 a.m. to 5 a.m. Monday. Aside from Al-Ghozi, the two others who escaped were suspected terrorist Abdun Mokin Edris and Abu Sayyaf member Meiran Amante. Al-Ghozi, who has emerged as a key Jemaah Islamiah operative in Southeast Asia with ties to the international terrorist group Al-Qaeda, was arrested in Manila last January 2002. Full Story
