Peruvian anti-terrorism police have captured a high-ranking member of the Shining Path rebel group, officials said Monday. Florentino Cerrón Cardozo, 43, was arrested Saturday from his home in Huancayo, in the Andes, police confirmed. His wife was arrested, too. News reports described Cerrón as one of the 19 members of the Shining Path’s Central Committee when Abimael Guzmán, founder of the rebel movement, was captured in 1992.
