In an important development, the Gujarat high court on Tuesday asked the state information technology department to furnish details about steps taken to implement the rules and regulations set by the Centre. The high court judge issued orders during the hearing of ongoing case between the Ahmedabad police and Ahmedabad cyber cafe association regarding implementation of rules and regulations set by the Ahmedabad police for cyber cafe owners and internet services users. The Ahmedabad police has sought expert guidance from Rohas Nagpal who is heading the Asian School of Cyber Laws at Pune. The Communication and Information Technology Department at Delhi had sent a letter on May 6 to all states to frame rules and regulations to curb cyber crimes. Citing the importance of the letter, the high court has asked the Gujarat state IT secretary to appraise the court about initiatives taken to form cyber laws. Full Story
