Twelve people were killed by armed Islamic extremists at a fake checkpoint about 160km west of Algiers, Algerian security services said on Wednesday. Two other people were injured in the massacre late on Tuesday at Boumedefaa near Ain Deflain, a sector where militants from the radical Armed Islamic Group (GIA) are known to be active.
