Police Hunt Second Killer of Australia Missionary

Solomon Islands police were yesterday continuing their hunt for a second prime suspect wanted for beheading a 60-year-old Australian missionary. Police on Friday charged a young unemployed man in his 20s with the murder of Seventh Day Adventist business manager Lance Gersbach. Gersbach was beheaded with a machete at the Seventh Day Adventist mission last week in the East Kwaio area of Malaita Island, about 130 kilometres east of the capital Honiara. Deputy Police Commissioner Wilfred Akao yesterday said the local people were being very co-operative with police in the search for the second suspect. “The other one is still at large. We’re combining our efforts together with the local people in the area to apprehend the remaining suspect,” Commissioner Akao said. “Both are prime suspects, that is quite clear from the information gathered so far.” Full Story
