Norway has beefed up security at its embassies in the Middle East and advised Norwegian companies in the region to be on increased alert following Al-Qaida threats to strike Norwegian targets. The US embassy in Oslo, Norway, has been closed due to the terror alert. The Norwegian Foreign Ministry has warned its citizens against traveling to Afghanistan, Kenya and Tanzania. The Scandinavian country of 4.5 million continues to ponder why Osama bin Laden’s senior strategist and al-Qaida No.2 Ayman Zawahiri singled it out as a terror target in a radio broadcast last week. Norway sent Special Forces troops to Afghanistan in the wake of the September 11 attacks. The country is also investigating an Iraqi Kurd suspected of having ties to Al-Qaida. Full Story
