Saudi Arabian officials are hunting for a Canadian citizen they allege is a terrorist — and who may be the brother of a man from St. Catharines, Ont., accused of being an al-Qaeda agent. After seizing weapons and explosives yesterday in the aftermath of a gun battle in Riyadh, Saudi officials said they are looking for 19 men. Among the suspects is “Abdel-Rahman Mansour Jubara, of an Iraqi origin, and holder of Kuwaiti and Canadian nationalities,” according to the state-run Saudi Press Agency. Canadian officials yesterday said they didn’t know whether the suspect is the brother of detained al-Qaeda suspect Mohamed Mansour Jabarah — but it’s a fairly good bet. “I presume it’s who we’re talking about,” one Canadian official said yesterday. “We’ve got a wire story and we’re interested in finding out what this is about as well.” Mohamed Mansour Jabarah, 20, studied in a St. Catharines Catholic high school just a few years before al-Qaeda leaders recruited him to blow up U.S. targets in Southeast Asia, U.S. law-enforcement officials say.
