Interrogations of top al-Qaeda operatives have re-ignited the investigation into accused terrorist Zacarias Moussaoui’s mission in the USA, and into whether al-Qaeda originally planned to hijack more than four jets on Sept. 11, 2001, senior FBI officials say. Information from the captives could lead the U.S. government to expand its view of al-Qaeda’s overall plan on Sept. 11 to include an attack on the White House. ”Many, many people are saying many interesting things,” a senior FBI official says. The information stems from debriefings of Ramzi Bin al-Shibh, an al-Qaeda operative who allegedly sent money to Moussaoui and some of the 19 hijackers; Khalid Shaikh Mohammed, the alleged mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks; and Mustafa al-Hawsawi, believed to have been the plot’s chief financier.
