Police-related computers have been bombarded by an average of more than 500 “cyberattacks” a day since last summer, police officials said Thursday. The attacks cover attempts to destroy or alter data on 57 monitored systems by viruses and other methods. Despite the alarming figure, police noted the frequency of the attacks varied drastically, with single viruses accounting for a large portion of assaults over certain periods.
