Kashmir Suicide Attack Kills Five

Three suspected militants and two Indian soldiers have died in a suicide attack on the offices of state-run television and radio in Srinagar, the summer capital of Indian-administered Kashmir. Indian officials said the militants drove up to the heavily guarded complex and detonated a car bomb at the entrance. The blast killed one militant and triggered a 30-minute gun battle in which two more were killed along with two soldiers, the officials said. The militants, who had tried to storm the building, were wearing police uniforms, the officials added. Soldiers later cordoned off the area and found explosives strapped to the bodies of two dead militants. An Islamic group called Al Madina Regiment said it had carried out the attack. The attack came a day after suspected militants blew up a courthouse in Kashmir, killing three people. Full Story
