Two Toronto office towers were evacuated after a car exploded in an underground garage they share, forcing the evacuation of tenants including National Bank of Canada, ING Groep NV and securities firm Octagon Capital. Initial reports on the radio said a gas main had exploded. “There was a car fire on the P2 level,” said John Knechtel, who leases the buildings at 181 University Ave. and 150 York St. for owner Oxford Properties Group. “It exploded.” Toronto police Sergeant Morgan Bumper said one person was taken to the hospital in fair condition. He said the explosion appeared to be an accident, and workers have been cleared to return to their offices. The ING Tower at 181 University also houses ZS Associates and Japan External Trade.
