Evans Data Corp. released its Wireless Development Survey 2003 Volume 1, which includes research on what technologies are being used to secure wireless local area networks, intentions for LAN technology, Web services development and deployment and brands likely to be supported first. The survey found Bluetooth network security mechanisms are divided with Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) protecting 19 percent, Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protecting 17 percent and Wireless application Protocol 2.0 (WAP) covering 16 percent. Meanwhile, security mechanisms in use for 802.11 networks include SSL protecting 21 percent, PKI at 16 percent and user authentication or passwords protecting 15 percent. Full Story
