It was a fitting moment for Cleofe Montulo and Emily Mantec, who were “resurrected” from their eight-month captivity from the Abu Sayyaf bandits and reunited with their families on Easter Sunday. As both emerged from the helicopter that landed at a military base here, the crowd was taken by the unfolding drama as eager relatives tearfully hugged the former hostages. “We are happy to be back but we are sad because we left two companions,” they said. Benjamin Montulo, 49, and his two sons Jeziel, 12, and nine-year-old Neil — tried to hold back their tears but could not contain their emotions after seeing Cleofe emerge from the helicopter. The two young Montulos said they had not missed a night praying for their mother to come home soon. “We are very happy that God listened to our prayer,” Jeziel said. For Mantec, her tearful reunion with her family was not enough to erase the images of how her husband Leonel, with another male companion, Lemuel Montulo, were beheaded on Aug. 20 last year soon after they were snatched by the bandits.
