Six Israelis and Palestinians were killed Tuesday during daylong violence in the West Bank, southern Gaza Strip and on the border between Gaza and Israel, Palestinian and Israeli sources said. Two Israelis were killed at the Karni terminal, where goods move between Israel and the Gaza Strip, when a Palestinian gunman entered the terminal hurling hand grenades and spraying automatic weapons fire. Seven other Israelis were also injured, authorities said. The Israelis were identified as Zachar Chanukayev, 39, from Sderot, and Ahmed Kra, 20 from Shofat. The gunman, Mohammed Yunis, 18, from the Jabaliyah refugee camp, was killed by security personnel. Hamas claimed responsibility for the attack, which it called revenge for Israel’s killing of one of its top commanders, Sa’ad al-Arbeed, and six other Palestinians a week ago in Gaza City.
