A computer virus, apparently written by a disgruntled Swede, is spreading by e-mail, luring users into activating it through their interest in the Iraq war, experts said on Thursday. The bug, named W32/Ganda-A, is a worm that spreads via e-mail and replicates itself through Microsoft Outlook files once opened. W32/Ganda-A will also try to kill off anti-virus files on the computer’s hard disk and may cause Microsoft Word to crash. The worm uses a variety of different subject lines and message bodies in its e-mail to try to coax the user into opening it, according to a Web site published by Symantec, a company that makes anti-virus software.
