The leader of Sri Lanka’s Tamil Tiger rebels has failed to turn up for a key meeting with Norwegian peace mediators. A BBC correspondent in Sri Lanka says Velupillai Prabhakaran appeared to be showing his displeasure over the sinking of a rebel ship by the Sri Lankan navy on Monday. The Tigers say they are considering pulling out of peace talks with the government in protest over the incident. Both sides have been observing a ceasefire for more than a year, after a prolonged conflict left some 65,000 people dead. Full Story
