Suspected militants have opened fire on a market in Indian-administered Kashmir. One senior police official has been killed and a number of people injured in the incident in the town of Poonch, close to the Line of Control that divides Kashmir. The militants then took over a hotel in the centre and began shooting and throwing grenades. It is the latest in a spate of killings in Indian-administered Kashmir. Soldiers and police have sealed off the area and traders have closed down their shops. Earlier on Friday, the army in Indian-administered Kashmir said its troops killed five separatist guerrillas in incidents south of the summer capital, Srinagar. An army spokesman said two militants of the Jaish-e-Mohammad group died in a shoot-out in the town of Magam. He said three other militants were killed in the village of Bona-ahalan. Full Story
