A Pakistani man arrested with an alleged senior figure from the al-Qaeda network has been remanded in custody for a fortnight. Ahmed Abdul Qudus was arrested earlier this month with Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, reported to be the mastermind behind the 11 September attacks on the US. Mr Qudus was brought handcuffed into an anti-terrorism court in the city of Rawalpindi, where he was ordered to be kept in detention. Although no formal charges have been laid against him, Mr Qudus is being held on the ground of “sheltering a religious extremist”, presumably Sheikh Mohammed. At the brief hearing, Judge Safdar Hussain ordered the police to present Mr Qudus again on 25 March when formal charges against him are to be placed. Full Story
