Guilty Plea Expected by Seller of Fake ID's to 9/11 Hijackers
An Egyptian-born United States citizen who sold fake identification cards to two of the Sept. 11 hijackers is expected to plead guilty to a minor charge on Tuesday, people familiar with the case said today. Those people said lawyers on both sides had agreed to a deal in which the defendant, Mohamed el-Atriss, 46, of Union, N.J., would plead guilty to selling illegal documents, a third-degree offense that does not necessarily require prison time. A state judge barred Mr. el-Atriss, who has been held in prison here since August, from seeing some of the evidence against him, after prosecutors argued that its disclosure would jeopardize national security.
