FBI Director Robert Mueller denied on Thursday a new intelligence center to analyze terrorist threats against the United States was being created because of dissatisfaction with the FBI. “The concept of another analytical center is not something that has been foisted on or thrust upon us. It is something that I believe in,” Mueller said, referring to the center President Bush announced in his State of the Union speech that will be overseen by CIA Director George Tenet. The FBI has been criticized in Congress for missing clues and not adequately sharing information that, if pursued, might have prevented the Sept. 11 hijacked plane attacks that Washington blames on Osama bin Laden and his al Qaeda network.
