There are some dates and events you never forget. I will always remember Nov. 22, 1963, when I learned that President John F. Kennedy had been shot. Older Americans have memories of when they learned President Franklin D. Roosevelt had died or about wartime victories in Europe and Japan. For younger Americans, the explosion of the Challenger shuttle, the World Trade Center bombing in New York City, and the deaths of Princess Diana and John F. Kennedy Jr. are indelibly etched.
