The latest act of terrorist warfare against the United States–the bombing of the USS Cole last month–has been answered, so far, not with Marines or missile strikes but with a wave of more than 100 FBI agents who descended on Aden, the port city in Yemen where the Cole was attacked during a refueling stop. For the past seven weeks, the FBI has nominally been engaged in an effort to compile a criminal case, suitable for trial in U.S. courts, against those who may have been behind the two suicide bombers. Last week, after prolonged negotiations, the agency signed an agreement with Yemeni security authorities spelling out the terms of their collaboration. Full Story
