Philippines Typhoon Deaths Surpass Record

“The death toll from Typhoon Haiyan climbed to 5,235 on Saturday, reaching a modern record for a disaster in the Southeast Asian nation two weeks after one of the most powerful storms in history ripped through its midsection. The casualty figure surpassed the estimated 5,100 killed in 1991 from flash floods caused by Tropical Storm Thelma.”
