M6, one of France’s biggest TV channels, hit by ransomware
French media empire M6 Group was hit by ransomware on Saturday, leading to disruptions of its phone and email systems. However, the incident did not impact any of the group’s TV channels, radio stations and film studios, which include M6, the largest private French TV channel.
The firm said that its security team was able to prevent the malware from spreading across the media empire. In 2015, Russian state-backed hacking group Fancy Bear compromised the network of French TV channel TV5 Monde and prevented live broadcasting for several hours.
