Iranian President Hassan Rouhani claimed on Friday that the United States has offered to “lift all sanctions” on Iran in order to get the country to participate in new negotiations regarding the 2015 Iran nuclear deal, which was abandoned by Washington last year. However, Rouhani said that the US government’s offer “wasn’t in a manner that was acceptable” because Washington’s current policy of maximum pressure on Tehran by means of sanctions makes it impossible to “predict what the end and result of this negotiation will be.”
Earlier this week at the United Nations General Assembly, the Iranian President warned that the Persian Gulf region “is on the edge of collapse” and urged Washington to lift its sanctions on the country in order to “open the way for the start of negotiations” between the two countries.
