More than half of US citizens either have experienced a cyberattack in which hackers accessed their data, or know someone who experienced this, according to a new IBM survey conducted by The Harris Poll. The study shows that consumers are increasingly frustrated with how companies handle their data, with 84% of respondents indicating that they have lost “all control” over their data.
A majority of respondents stated that they take the data handling practices of organizations into account when considering whether or not they want to work for a certain firm, and 64% have decided against working for a company over issues with the firm’s cybersecurity program.
