A new United Nations report to the UN Security Council North Korea sanctions committee states that North Korea has used “widespread and increasingly sophisticated” cyberattacks to steal around $2 billion from financial institutions and cryptocurrency exchanges. North Korean hackers also used digital services to launder the money.
In addition, the country “continued to enhance its nuclear and missile programmes although it did not conduct a nuclear test or ICBM (Intercontinental Ballistic Missile) launch” in the last six months.
