Microsoft Excel Vulnerability Could Put 120 Million Users At Risk

A newly uncovered critical vulnerability in Microsoft Excel could enable attackers to infect vulnerable computers with malware in order to take over the machines. The flaw puts around 120 million users at risk.

Researchers with Mimecast discovered the issue, which affects Power Query. They warn that “because Power Query is a powerful tool within Microsoft Excel, the potential threat for abusing the feature is great.” Microsoft has not been able to issue a patch for the flaw yet.
