Now that Special Counsel Robert Mueller has wrapped up his investigation into the Trump campaign with the conclusion that he did not find evidence of collusion with the Russian government, Moscow sees an opportunity to “renew” US-Russia relations. A Russian official on Monday said that the first issue to be tackled by the US and Russia should be denuclearization through the intermediate-range nuclear forces (INF) and New Start Treaties.
Earlier this year the US announced that it would be withdrawing from the INF treaty, a move that was copied by the Kremlin, raising fears that the rules that stopped nuclear war in the past no longer work.
