The research agency of the US Department of Defense, officially called the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency or DARPA for short, has started to investigate how AI solutions could enable people to control machines with their mind, through “next-generation neurotechnology.”
Neurotechnology can already enable people to control drones and prosthetic limbs, but the project would require the development of neural interfaces on a whole new level. The technology could be used for many purposes, but one of the primary aims of DARPA is to enable soldiers to remotely control military systems.
