According to a recent testimony by the head of U.S. Cyber Command before the Senate Armed Services Committee, the organization has been increasing its cyber operations across the globe with success, guided by the philosophy of ‘defending forward.’
“In practice, this means confronting our adversaries from where they launch cyberattacks and developing robust capabilities that are responsive to Defense Support to Civil Authorities (DSCA) activities,” the testimony states. For instance, the command has actively supported various other agencies in efforts to defend the 2018 midterm elections against cyber attacks. In addition, the organization is currently working to “disrupt the operations, command and control and propaganda of several insurgent and terrorist groups in support of Central Command, Africa Command and Special Operations Command.”
