According to Stephen Biegun, the US special envoy for North Korea, the country has promised to dismantle its sites used for enriching nuclear material. The pledge was allegedly made to US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo during his October 2018 visit to the country. Biegun’s claim has not been confirmed by the North Korean government. The special envoy added that President Donald Trump was “ready to end this war” and assured that the US is “not seeking to topple the regime” in North Korea.
In a separate statement, President Donald Trump said that a second summit was being planned for him and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The president also spoke of “tremendous progress” in the US-North Korea talks.
