James Golden, CEO of WorldQuant Predictive believes that the proliferation of artificial intelligence (AI) technology could enable us to address many of the global problems that humanity is currently facing. However, he emphasizes that there are serious limitations to the application of AI, which are rooted in the fact that AI suffers from the same kind of human biases that underlie those very problems.
In order to address these biases, James Golden thinks that AI research should not follow a top-down model in which developers impose their ideas and therefore their biases on AI-enabled tools. Instead, what is needed is a bottom-up approach based on data from around the globe.
