Citing threat of Russian aggression, Poland has voiced strong support for the possibility of permanent U.S. troop deployment in the country. While the U.S. has not indicated plans towards this end, Poland has remained a strong NATO member and one of the few that has met the group’s defense spending target of 2% of GDP. The presence of U.S. troops in Poland would not be well received by Russia, although the U.S. has been rotating troops across countries in the Eastern region since Russia’s annexation of the Crimea.
