Witnesses have indicated the presence of around 500 Russian soldiers for the past 5 months on the border of the Central African Republic and South Darfur in Sudan, where they are allegedly training Seleka Muslim rebels from CAR as well as Sudanese soldiers. The Russian troops are being hosted by the Sudanese government and Western governments have cited Russian-Sudanese cooperation in the CAR crisis and has vocally opposed any Russian presence.
