Most anti-drone weapons and tools work by disrupting the communications between the drone and its pilot. This has previously required significant amounts of energy and the risk of disrupting friendly communications. One recent piece of technology, however, reduces the impact of some of these difficulties through a line-of-sight solution. This shoulder-fired, battery-powered weapon has a range of 500 meters and works by detecting the frequency (or frequencies) the drone uses and then targeting them specifically, rather than blasting out signals across a wide spectrum. Drone technologies, including anti-drone technologies, are still a relatively new field and increasing investments in their development will likely shape a variety of future conflicts, tactics, and strategies.
