Facebook’s content moderation system flagged a local newspaper’s post containing a segment of the U.S. Declaration of Independence for violation of hate speech standards. Facebook acknowledged the removal was a mistake caused by imperfect processing of millions of reports every week. The story is the most recent in Facebook’s difficulties to design A.I. and human led review systems able to distinguish between legitimate content and banned content, especially content shared by extremists of all kinds.
