Facial recognition technology, military bases, and face paint

Facial recognition technology, in many of its current forms, is unable to match individuals wearing heavy face paint with the same individuals without paint. This gap in the technology poses a risk to sites that use facial recognition security systems like military basis and also engage high numbers of contractors. A recent version of the gap was found on Twitter when facial recognition software was unable to identify makeup-ed attendees at a music festival
