Facebook recently banned a group of hardline Myanmar Buddhists and a number of monks who played a significant role in the incitement to violence against the Rohingya. Facebook plays a large role in the country and the organization has come under criticism for failing to remove the content within what some consider a reasonable amount of time. As extremists around the globe continue to use Facebook and other social media to communicate and share content, platforms continue to face difficult decisions regarding where to draw lines between permissible and non-permissible ideas and content, as well as how to police the lines.
