Pakistani troops Friday killed four militants after an attack on an army convoy near the Afghan border, the latest clash in a wave of Islamist violence sweeping the country, officials said. The fighting in the troubled tribal area of North Waziristan, where US officials have threatened to strike Al-Qaeda militants, was followed by a protest against military checkpoints set up by the government.
