Pakistani authorities banned gatherings of more than five people in Karachi Monday amid continuing violence over the suspension of the country’s top judge which has left nearly 40 people dead. Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry meanwhile was due to attend the latest in a series of Supreme Court hearings in Islamabad into charges of misconduct against him which have sparked two months of unrest.
