A suicide bomber struck a vehicle carrying Afghan soldiers in eastern Afghanistan, wounding 16 people, and a car bomb targeting a U.S. patrol wounded three civilians, a police official said Thursday. An Afghan soldier was killed in a separate ambush. The suicide bomber ran to the vehicle carrying Afghan troops in the eastern Khost province and sparked a blast that wounded two of the troops and 14 civilians, said Mohammad Ayub, a provincial police chief.
