A bomb planted by Taliban militants hit a government convoy in eastern Afghanistan, killing three policemen and injuring two others, a police commander said. A purported Taliban spokesman, Mohammad Hanif, said the attack near the eastern town of Khost was carried out by loyalists of the movement which has been waging an insurgency since being removed from government in 2001.
