ASIA: A small bomb exploded outside the home of the Thai king’s chief adviser Thursday, injuring a British tourist and heightening tensions amid an opposition campaign to oust the country’s prime minister. Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra blamed the bomb on “hooligans” trying to cause “trouble amid the political crisis.” No one immediately claimed responsibility for the homemade bomb, triggered by remote control at a guard post outside the Bangkok home of former Prime Minister Prem Tinsulanonda, now the chief adviser to King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The blast came as hundreds of protesters rallied at Singapore’s Embassy in Bangkok, demanding a halt to the sale of a telecom empire in which the Thaksin family had a controlling stake to a Singapore-owned investment fund.
