Two days before US President Donald Trump is set to visit South Korea, the North Korean regime has lashed out at its neighbor to the south, saying that it will “never go through” South Korea in order to deal with the United States, and denying recent South Korean reports of unofficial talks between South and North Korean officials. According to Pyongyang, “it’s better for the South Korean authorities to mind their own business at home.”
The harsh statements stand in sharp contrast to a recent exchange of letters between Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jung-un, which actually raised hopes for a new round of US-North Korea talks over Pyongyang’s nuclear program.
