Palestinian militants killed at least two more soldiers in the Gaza Strip, capping the worst week for the Israeli army since the start of the intifada in September 2000 and fanning growing support in Israel for a pullout from the territory. Two Palestinians were also killed and several wounded in Israeli air strikes on Rafah refugee camp, which came as the Israeli government announced controversial plans to demolish hundreds of homes to broaden a buffer zone on the adjacent Israeli-controlled border with Egypt. There were conflicting reports on how the soldiers were killed — the 12th and 13th to die in Gaza since Tuesday. An Israeli military spokeswoman said they were felled by sniper fire but the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades — an armed offshoot of the mainstream Fatah movement of Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat — said they died in a roadside bombing.
